Walking Information

Programmes - Four programmes are issued per year listing walks and other club events on offer in each season.

New members – over the age of 18 years are always welcome.  We run a series of introductory walks from September to March and we advertise in local outdoor shops.  All prospective members may complete three club walks from our programme before applying for membership.

What to bring – The minimum requirements are hillwalking boots, waterproof jacket & overtrousers, fleece, hat & gloves.   A backpack carrying sandwiches, hot drink, water, snack bar & fruit is essential.   A change of clothes and towel to be left in the car is highly recommended.

In the interest of safety - Walk leaders have discretion on accepting people on their walks.  The club advises that strict rules regarding the suitability of footwear and clothing will be imposed.

30th May 2010 - Sixteen members and two guests set out in misty conditions from Torc Upper car park.  Our course brought us up 'the steps' and onto the Mangerton track. Passed the Devils Punch bowl and continued along the western flank of Mangerton. We saw a herd of deer, before turning north passing 'the cores' and returning to the car park along the Old Kenmare road. On our return journey we heard the cuckoo in the Torc Woods, but saw no eagles this time.
